I’m surprised there has been no reported cases of epileptic fits today…with all that red and white flashing everywhere.
Seriously, they show their nationalistic pride today?
Then what do they wear tomorrow- their normal teen-ish get up.
oh please
I devised a plan and told it to jacque & ying2 earlier today:
–Shall wear red&white everyday with the exception of Nat.Day & Nat.Day eve. & will document it.
Take that, pride for country!
Unfortunately, i do not have enough resources…& white pants/skirt=TACKY.
In some ways, i do like living in Singapore…but most of the time, i’m thinking: Why am i living here?
Stuff i don’t like about Singaporeans/Singapore
-tissue paper concept
-kiasuism
-kaypohism
-chilli sauce on everything
-exam pressure
-small
-not enough exposure in film industry
Stuff i like about Singapore
-no natural disasters
-compulsory basic education
-relatively clean surroundings
-the zoo
putting that aside…i’m having mixed feelings on this years Nat.Day songs.
“will you” is pretty cool…and i like the whole group singing concept
-last female singer=awesome voice
-last male singer=noob…in a funny way (hey! at least he’s memorable)
the other song…forgot the title= yawnfest.
OF COURSE i can relate to seeing the big ben and climbing the great wall and going to broadway since i have NOT been to any of those places. (sarcasm!sarcasm!sarcasm!)
That song just makes me think of those wealthy people and how it seems like they’re rubbing it in the faces of those who do not own the luxury to travel to so many places.
pfft.
Nat.Day songs for the past few years have been rather so-so.
Ok, i lie, they have bored me so.much
It seems like they’re plaguing so much on nostalgia & slow melodies and rhythms.
Give me One People, One Nation, One Singapore or Singapore Town anytime man.
I don’t want any of this “moments of magic” or that boring (read:lame actions) one with taufik batisah & rui-en.
So…in the spirit of Almost-National-Day, here’s the official tv version music vid of the better of the two songs this year:
Will you
& usually, the word “Singapore” is usually accompanied by the name Dick Lee (well, let’s just say it is):
& since i’m feeling so singaporean-ish , here’s a vid of my fav Nat.Day Song…well, not an official vid, but some acapella rendition that’s pretty good
Singapore Town-Kukrusann
ok.thats it.i’m ending here.
you’re stupid if you don’t watch it
BIG DECK
saw this last year, (metaphorically) fell out of chair laughing , replayed & mem-ed it
